Cubes in Space - Student Airborne Science and Engineering Program
Airborne Science and Engineering Opportunity - Cubes in Space
Audience: STEAM Educators (Formal, Informal, Homeschool, Out-of-School) and Their Students
Registration Deadline: February 14, 2020
idoodlEdu inc., NASA's Wallops Fligtht Facility and NASA's Langley Research Center, along with the Colorado Space Grant Consortium, are offering a free STEAM project-based learning program for formal and informal educators and their students, 11-18 years of age. Cubes in Space provides students the opportunity to design and compete to launch small experiments into space or near space. Selected experiments will be launched via sounding rocket from Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia in late June 2020 and from a high-altitude scientific balloon by NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in New Mexico in late 2020.
Cubes in Space was designed with the learner AND educator in mind. Our program is an authentic, hands-on/minds-on, inquiry-based learning experience with an opportunity to conduct real scientifc research and fly an experiment in space on a NASA mission in 2020. The accompanying online environment offers a full curriculum, resources and activities to support diverse learners.
Cubes in Space offers science centers, museums and other STEAM organizations a variety of opportunities from a FREE competition with support resources to the ability to purchase a cube that will fly on either mission. This gives organizations time and flexibility this late winter and spring to integrate components of Cubes in Space into existing or planned STEAM-based programs.
If you are part of the NASA Museum Alliance and wish to participate but can't register by February 14, 2020, please contact us!
