The Dorrance Planetarium at Arizona Science Center is one of the largest, most technologically advanced planetariums in the United States. In 1997, the Planetarium opened its doors and over two million guests have visited. The planetarium features a NanoSeam dome and Digistar 5 by Evans and Sutherland.

Discover the current night sky and hear stories about the different constellations visible this time of year. This show concludes with a spin through the cosmos.

Grand Tour of the Solar System11:30 a.m.

Voyage through our spectacular solar system and visit each planet, comparing and contrasting their features. Our journey ends with a ride on our Mobius space coaster.

Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope12:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.

Learn how the telescope has helped us understand our place in space and how telescopes continue to expand our understanding of the Universe. Learn about the history of the telescope; see how telescopes work and how the largest observatories in the world use these instruments to explore the mysteries of the universe.

From Earth to the Universe1:30 p.m. & 3:30 p.m.

Directed by the young Greek filmmaker Theofanis N. Matsopoulos, and featuring a sweeping soundtrack from Norwegian composer Johan B. Monell, viewers can revel in the splendour of the various worlds in the Solar System and the ferocity of the scorching Sun. From Earth to the Universe then leaves our home to take the audience out to the colourful birthplaces and burial grounds of stars, and still further out, beyond the Milky Way, to the unimaginable immensity of a myriad galaxies. Along the way, the audience will learn about the history of astronomy, the invention of the telescope, and today’s giant telescopes that allow us continue to probe ever deeper into the Universe.
