Amateur Astronomers, Inc., located at William Miller Sperry Observatoy on the campus of Union County College in Cranford, NJ  will be holding their annual Astronomy Day on Saturday, May 2, 2020.

It is a split event that day. We will be at Trailside Nature & Science Center lcoated at 452 New Providence Rd., Mountainside, NJ 07092 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Then in the evening we will be at Sperry Observatory, located at 1033 Springfield Ave., Cranford, NJ 07016 from 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm.

Our theme is "Amazing Anniversaries!" celebrating the 90th anniversary of the discovery of Pluto and the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope. Our activities at Trailsdie include children's crafts about the Hubble Space Telescope, safe solar observing (weather permitting), activites about Pluto, presentations on Pluto and Hubble, meteorites presentation, children's story time, a solar system walk, demonstrations on gravity and light and a scavenger hunt. In the evening we will have a presentation about the Hubble Space Telescope, door prizes and observing through our 2 large telecopes (also weather permitting) plus our own members' telescopes.
