Apollo Youth Art Contest: Opening Reception & Award Ceremony
A free opening reception and award ceremony of the Apollo Youth Art Contest will be held on Thursday, July 18 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center.
One overall grand-prize winner, people’s choice winner and NASA’s choice winner will be selected from all entries. A first place, second place, and third place winner will also be selected for each grade category: pre-K - 2, grades 3 - 5, grades 6 - 8, and grades 9 – 12.
Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. in the Visitor Center’s Auditorium. Students not in attendance will be informed by email.
The winners of each grade category, People’s Choice, NASA’s Choice will receive certificates, ribbons, and a NASA Exploration Gift Bag.The Grand Prize winner of the contest will receive a full tuition scholarship to attend one of the Virginia Space Flight Academy’s summer space adventure camps at Wallops Island, Virginia in 2020*. All contest participants will receive an official NASA Certificate of Participation.
The Apollo Youth Art entries will be on display at the Visitor Center from Thursday, July 18, 2019 through Saturday, September 7, 2019.
The contest is open to pre-K through 12th grade students nation-wide. Students participating in the contest must officially register by submitting the Youth Art Registration form by Saturday, June 1. All artwork entries must be submitted or postmarked by Saturday, June 15, 2019.
