Apollo 11 50th Anniversary

Event Date:
Saturday, July 20, 2019
Event Time:
6:00pm - 12:00am
Event Description:

Party like it's 1969!

Come to the Exploratorium in San Francisco for a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission! On Saturday, July 20, 2019, we will have a party to honor man's first steps on the Moon, with a range of activities, talks, and a public viewing of the original NASA Moon landing footage. Part of Moon Month at the Exploratorium, the evening will include a wonderful installation-a version of Musueum of the Moon, which is an artwork by by UK artist Luke Jerram.  Measuring 5 meters in diameter, this inflatable moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface.

Playing on big screens around the museum, we will screen the original Moon landing footage, which has recently been restored in HD and re-released by NASA.

Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite garb from 1969-don't forget your bell-bottoms!
